12.19.07 Defining Education and It’s Practical Value
Wednesday, December 19th, 200712.19.07 Defining Education and It’s Practical Value
Education is a peculiar phenomena as we all know that ‘a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing.’ Imagine the light of wisdom creating chaos from tunnel vision that springs from truth that is not truth and you get a glimpse of how society got to where it is today. If you’re a christian, think about islam. If you’re a muslim, think about christianity. Each thinks the other evil. Why?
Comparatively speaking, America’s many systems leave much to be desired. As societal needs become more complex, the old logic simply will not suffice. New logic is required. Who among us has the gift of discernment and can actually recommend genuinely positive steps that enable solutions for the many vexing problems we all face and sometimes disagree upon? How can a society use the benefits of secularism to offset religious ignorance and it’s detrimental influence upon every government anywhere on the planet? How does religion coexist with the need for an orderly, secular society? (International Law.)
How do we go about eliminating religious ignorance when the existence of God can not be empirically proven? How do we change the invalid view of ‘inerrancy,’ when it is championed by stoic and misdirected belief? How do we convince folk who have thought something was true all their lives to realize that their truth is not truth without being accused of blasphemous heresy? Perhaps with the hope that genuine dialogue will yield to reason.
Where is the proper starting point, the cornerstone that can be rent asunder and leave society a little better off than it was yesterday. How do we educate the ‘body of christ’ and by doing so, transcend the impedance that is generated by their ‘truth’ that is ‘not truth?’ Realization brings acceptance. Acceptance brings change. Does knowing the earth is not flat change anyone’s mind about the existence of a fictitious devil, named Satan or Lucifer in the story about Eden and creation?
If we woke up tomorrow and no one had any false knowledge about a fall or a war in heaven, would it make a difference? If no one on the planet believed that Satan was real, would it change anything? Certainly it would. We would have to blame ourselves for the mess we have made. We would have to be accountable and own the world’s misery as an extension of our own misdirected effort to micromanage with faith systems that are simply not real. If we disassemble our religious identities from one another, do we return to the possibility of simply being human beings who would all like to see a better tomorrow? My desire to destroy what may be religious ignorance in your mind, is not satanic or even sadistic. If indeed it is ignorance, would not my actions be motivated by love? Adam and Eve are characters in a fable. Those stories from Genesis and elsewhere enable identity, but the identity falls short of equipping society with the needed ability to ‘love one another.’ We don’t show “God’s Love” with nuclear arsenals, cluster bombs and land mines. Seems to me that even educated Republicans must realize they have been sucker punched and must swallow their pride at having invested so much time learning about Jewish orthodoxy and so little on how to make America and the rest of the world better tomorrow by removing the cornerstones of religious ignorance generated by that orthodoxy.
Would a higher view, one from somewhere a little further away than our moon, look down on us and ask “What’s the difference between throwing someone into a volcano and nailing someone to a cross? Are they not equally primitive?” The ‘body of christ’ must grow up and realize their desire to worship a creator falls short because they do so without the spirit of truth. Make believe and fiction will not get the job done. Ask yourself this question. Is it possible that the cross is a symbol of idolatry and arrogance? Sure, the gospel has elements of beauty, but they are contrived from a bogus beginning. There was no original sin. It’s all been a lie.

Ps. That comment about being the ‘weak link‘ at the table was hilarious and very easy to identify with. ; )
