Watching the Saturday Early Show this morning provided some exposure to the work of Dr. Paul Donahue. It poses an interesting problem for any society that allows it’s citizens the right to raise their children in religious ignorance. America’s christians rejoice in their freedom, without realizing their not free. Beg to differ? Can you be a parent who raises your child without fear, and be an orthodox christian or a bastard jew?
Christians shoot their children in both feet, like the parents who allow their children to actually stand at a pulpit and pretend to preach the ‘word of God’ long before their bodies are even capable of learning how to masturbate. Silly contrast, but it drives home a point. The children are being brainwashed with bogus doctrine. How do you raise a child without fear if you tell them “God” sends folk to hell if they aren’t washed in the blood? Someone wrote that ‘perfect love cast out fear,’ but not if your devoted to reading the bible. Those who read the bible can do nothing but induce fear. If they don’t, we average, wannabe, Americans will be damned to eternal torment. Their saving our souls by trying to convince us we should help them carry their ball and chain? “Salvation via volcano atonement!” Or, if you prefer a different spin, ‘volcanovangelism’, a variation of 3:16 imagery, with the same old, same old, primitive superstition for a cornerstone.
It seems like I’ve lived most of my life waiting for the other shoe to drop. Some might say that’s normal, even realistic pragmatism. (Dad was an alcoholic, drill instructor and the bible belt provided additional baggage.) I’ve reached the point where I’d rather just scream “Fu*k the other shoe.” I know I’d rather be naked and ignorant of the primitive superstitions derived from that little tale about a tree, a tail and Adam and Eve getting nailed. If perfect love cast out fear, how can fear be the beginning of wisdom knowledge and understanding? Answer: “God’s” mysterious bullshit, provided by the bible and it’s many illusions of light, created by dark shadows. When I think of Billy singing “no religion, no religion at all” I feel like my soul is being washed clean. Forget about washing feet, washing the mind free of primitive ignorance has far more societal value than continuing the curse of indoctrination, Sunday after Sunday after Sunday. If your doing that, your brainwashing your children with ignorance. Your raising your children with fear. Where there is fear there is no spirit of truth. You go to church on Sunday and praise God with lies!
That’s just the way it is, and that way is sick.
